Description

An old map of Ukraine captures the Bratslav and Kyiv regions in the late period of the existence of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, between the first (1772) and second (1793) partitions. It shows Right-Bank Ukraine with Polish-Latin administrative terminology, Italian transliterations of toponyms, the river network of the Dniester and Dnieper, key cities: Kiow, Bratslav, Winnica, Uman, Biała Cerkiew, etc. The letter demonstrates how European publishers integrated Rizzi Zannoni's new surveys into popular atlases.
An elegant Venetian cartouche in the late Rococo style, with a clear engraving style, delicate line reliefs, and colored borders. The composition is clean and easily readable, typical of Zatta's workshop. Miderite with original hand-colored decoration.
Original old-printed map from Antonio Zatta's "Atlante Novissimo", a series of sheets on the lands of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. Title: "Li Palatinati di Braclaw e Kiowia. Tratta dall'Atlante Polacco del Sig.r Rizzi Zanoni". Print on good paper, authentic colors. The map is important for research on the Right Bank and the Cossack-noble geography of the second half of the 18th century.
Very good: uniform patina, clean margins, no image loss. Imperceptible traces of time on the edges.
